General archeology
Training Objectives
From a cognitive perspective, the training in the field of archaeology aims to educate specialists in various branches of archaeology, including prehistoric archaeology, ancient periods, Islamic periods, and conservation, restoration, and historical delineation from the beginning of human existence until the end of Ottoman rule and the beginning of the Algerian resistance.
From a geographical perspective, it generally encompasses various parts of the ancient world that were covered by major civilizations, with a significant focus on Algeria and a lesser focus on the countries of the Arab Maghreb.
Lastly, in terms of the nature of the study field, the training aims to enable students to explore the various civilizational, architectural, and artistic achievements of civilizations throughout different periods.
Targeted Qualifications and Competencies
– Managing and administering the affairs of archaeological heritage in general and Islamic archaeological heritage in particular in various organizations, especially national and regional museums under the Ministry of Culture and Mujahideen, as well as managing and administering the cultural heritage department in each directorate of culture and mujahideen in each province.
– Managing and administering the preservation, restoration, and research departments in the National Office for the Exploitation of Cultural Properties.
– Managing and administering nationally and internationally classified museums and archaeological sites in Algeria.
– Conducting archaeological surveys.
– Participating in excavations and various archaeological exploration activities.
– Preparing reports on various archaeological survey activities.
