Training Objectives
The training in School Psychology aims to deepen students’ academic and theoretical knowledge about how to address school-related issues using both educational and clinical psychological approaches. It recognizes that the school is a systemic and multidimensional environment that requires examination from various educational, clinical, and social perspectives. Additionally, the training aims to equip students with various techniques of psychological assessment, individual and group interviewing, and different educational psychological intervention methods. Students also become familiar with the roles and ethical principles guiding the practice of school psychologists. Furthermore, the program trains students to conduct scientific research on educational and school-related issues.
Targeted Qualifications and Competencies
The training aims to develop a range of abilities and skills in students in the following areas:
– Acquiring the foundations and major theoretical orientations in studying child and adolescent personality.
– Acquiring clinical interviewing techniques, active listening skills, and individual and group intervention skills in the school setting.
– Learning the steps of conducting and monitoring case studies in the school environment.
– Applying psychological tests and conducting psychological assessments.
– The ability to diagnose school-related problems and associated psychological problems and disorders.
– Familiarity with various counseling programs and individual and group intervention programs.
– The ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve institutional goals.
– Training in the application of clinical research steps.
Regional and National Employability
After obtaining the bachelor’s degree, students, based on their abilities and interests, can work in the following fields:
– Institutions under the Ministry of National Education.
– Institutions under the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
– Vocational training institutions.
– Institutions under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Pathway Programs
This specialization allows students to pursue further studies at the master’s level in the same field or in related disciplines such as School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education, etc.
