Counseling and Guidance

Objectives

The Master’s program in Counseling and Guidance aims to provide individuals with techniques in psychological and educational counseling and guidance. It caters to various target groups within educational, social, and community institutions that directly or indirectly require such services. Additionally, the program aims to develop theoretical models inspired by practical experiences in counseling and guidance processes and their application to help individuals adapt to different environments they constantly interact with, such as families, schools, educational and vocational institutions, specialized institutions for different groups, and the broader community. It also seeks to compare different methodological approaches and scientific theories with the results of practical field experiences in each of these areas of interaction.

Competencies

The project focuses on:

1. Training professionals responsible for teaching, training, and supervising graduate students, as well as assisting in their internships and preparing their dissertations. They also establish connections with external institutions that provide training support to these students.

2. Supervising and monitoring research projects conducted through agreements between educational institutions and universities.

3. Developing specialized professionals in psychological counseling and educational guidance who can assist the Ministry of National Education in directing middle school students towards vocational training centers and high school students towards universities and vocational training centers. Additionally, they provide psychological consultation to students facing psychological or behavioral difficulties, as well as communicate with their parents and guardians to overcome any challenges they may encounter.

The program prepares practitioners capable of practicing in the following fields:

– School counseling and guidance

– Family counseling and guidance

– Vocational counseling and guidance

– Counseling and guidance in correctional institutions

– Counseling and guidance in universities

– Counseling and guidance in judicial councils and courts

– Counseling and guidance in pre-school educational institutions

– Counseling and guidance in vocational training and education institutions

– Counseling and guidance in special education institutions

– Counseling and guidance in literacy institutions

Admission Criteria

The program accepts students based on the following typical undergraduate specializations that qualify them for enrollment in the Master’s program:
